CREATIVE DIRECTOR – EA SPORTS ONLINE
The Creative Director for EA SPORTS Online establishes the creative vision and overall aesthetic and interactive designs for the online experiences and products delivered from an “agency-type” service model. These experiences will attract, engage, and monetize consumers on a daily basis in an effort to support EA SPORTS and its business units in reaching and exceeding their strategic goals. This critical leadership role will ensure results that serve as the bridge between our online consumers and the business / service / communication goals of the EA SPORTS Label, Marketing, and the SPORTS Business Units (SBU).
The Creative Director role for EA SPORTS Online will be integral to transforming easports.com and the related online products and services into an online experience and service that drives customer interaction and engagement 365 days per year to increase customer acquisition, engagement, and monetization online. The right candidate will lead with courage and integrity, and be a creative force that has the innate ability to interact with, openly communicate with, and influence a variety partners across the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Direct and drive the creative services team within EA SPORTS Online as an internal “agency” capable of delivering products, services, and experiences (including easports.com) that meet the business / service / communication goals of the EA SPORTS Label, Marketing, and the SBUs.
• Manage creative efforts from conception to completion in an on-time, on-quality manner to ensure client needs are being met and goals are being reached.
• Collaborate seamlessly with Marketing and Communications leaders and personnel, and ensure constant alignment and a healthy, productive partnership.
• Collaborate with SBU leaders and their respective franchise teams on EA SPORTS Online products and experiences that support and/or enhance SBU products and services.
• Deliver outstanding, world-class customer service and communication to internal partners that result in engaging experiences for external consumers.
• Inspire and lead the EA SPORTS Online creative services team, and work seamlessly with the producers and engineers within EA SPORTS Online.
• Partner with other leaders within EA SPORTS Development Operations (Dev Ops), especially Core Technology, to deliver above expectations.
• Make evaluative judgments that balance creativity and interactive design solutions vs. business goals and resource restrictions.
• Ensure EA SPORTS and EA branding standards are enforced.
• Utilize metrics to reinforce design decisions.
• Travel, as necessary, to meet with clients to ensure quality, alignment, and successful delivery.
Qualifications:
• Proven creative leader with 7+ years experience in designing large-scale, interactive, online experiences (4+ in a leadership / management capacity)
• Undergraduate degree in Interactive Design, Fine Arts, Advertising, or related field or equivalent visual design required
• Video game, entertainment, and/or sports industry experience are preferred, but not required
• Must possess a thorough understanding of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes, and user interface design as well as industry best practices
• Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of the web
• Ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative solutions
• A strong working knowledge of experience design, brand development, interactive commerce and creative process
• Apply best practices in user interface and interactive design, including image optimization and site mapping
• Competence in software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, and/or other industry-leading creative applications is required
• Experience with Adobe AfterEffects and/or other video editing is a plus
• Knowledge of HTML, DHTML CSS, Actionscript, Drupal, and/or other web tools
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative approach with the ability to lead through influence
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment with the ability to lead a diverse team of multiple disciplines
• Ability to adapt to frequently changing schedules and deadlines
