Quality Assurance Technicians, or Testers, perform a vital role in game development, testing, tuning, debugging, and suggesting detailed refinements that lead to higher quality and better playability of the finished game. The job involves playing (i.e., testing) the game in a systematic way, analyzing the game’s performance against the designer’s intentions, identifying problems, and suggesting improvements. In effect, they act as the game’s first audience, reporting on playability and identifying any aspects which could be improved. Testers are responsible for assuring quality in the final product and for finding flaws in a game before it goes public.

Role Overview

Responsible for day-to-day quality assurance on a client component that handles interaction between various GUIs and the backend.
Responsible for verifying that builds are ready to be released.
Develop test plans and test cases ensure coverage on middleware features for each sprint.
Manage bug priority and severity levels and coordinate with developers to ensure that high priority bugs are caught and resolved quickly.
Define and develop an automated test suite.
Verify and validate functional specs that are being delivered to ensure clarity and testability.

What skills does EA look for??

Experience Required:
Experience working with and developing automation test suites.
4+ years experience developing and/or testing windows applications.
2+ years building test automation.
Erlang and C++ experience are preferred, but not required.


Skills:
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple aspects of a release cycle as well as managing feedback from users and other members of the team and coordinating bug fixes to ensure that releases are smooth.
Communication, project management, and prioritization are all essential to this role.
Experience working in an agile environment preferred.
Able to work highly independently. Ideal candidate would have experience working as a sole QA person or in a similar role where they’re directly responsible for the quality of releases.
