Responsibilities
The infrastructure team (“DevNet”) works closely with staff in our North American and Japanese headquarters in order to develop web based services that help our colleagues provide support to licensed PlayStation developers. We are seeking an enthusiastic student with excellent computer literacy to join our team and help us coordinate our work. The role may also include support work for our developer services SCEE R&D group occasionally. Some aspects of the work will include basic web development related tasks and so some previous experience on web projects will be advantageous. Other aspects will include reviewing content pages, creating documentation, helping subject matter experts to create and edit articles and topic pages.
Common tasks will include assigning issues, configuring new projects and support areas on our system, designing the best solution for specific requests using our proprietary systems, assigning development tasks, updating our code or content for our various sites, and handling external enquiries and account requests. Training and mentoring for using our in-house system is provided on an ongoing basis.
Depending on the student’s situation, there is some flexibility regarding the start date and duration. The position must be full time and cannot be held during a year of full time degree study.
Skills
The ideal applicant will be studying a computing related subject with a great interest in technical projects, computing and business processes.
The following skills are essential:
• Information Technology skills
• Excellent process/analytical skills
• Proficient with MS Office applications
• Internet ‘power user’
• Familiarity with computing, network and software development terms
• Excellent written English
The following skills would be highly advantageous:
• Interest in computing subjects and scripting skills
• Familiarity with Linux/bash shell
• Experience of using version control tools
The applicant must be proactive enough to manage tasks well independently, and communicate proficiently with an international development team. As we are globally distributed we rely heavily on written communication.
