The Marketing and Sales teams are critical to the success of any game. The Marketing team works closely with game developers to ensure the game has a clear design and a clear ‘X’ factor, (i.e., the defining element of the game that makes it unique and the ultimate reason behind why our customers should pay for and play our game). The Marketing team identifies the key audience for our games and tailors the marketing strategy to communicate clearly to the intended target. The Sales team is responsible for making sure the game reaches all relevant distribution points, so that our customers can find our games at their favorite shopping destinations.
Role overview:
A key leadership role on the Digital Marketing & Analytics team, this team-leader will be responsible for developing, shaping and operating the channels used to acquire new EA SPORTS consumers across multiple platforms, while ensuring a seamless acquisition experience for the user.
Examples of games and programs you’ll be acquiring consumers into, include:
• FIFA Superstars (Facebook)
• Madden Superstars (Facebook)
• FIFA Mobile (iOS)
• Madden Mobile (iOS)
• FIFA Ultimate Teams (Xbox, PS3)
• Madden Ultimate Teams (Xbox, PS3)
• NHL Ultimate Teams (Xbox, PS3)
• Skills Based Gaming (PS3)
• EA SPORTS Season Ticket (Xbox, PS3)
The key responsibilities of the role include:
• Building and leading a team of acquisition subject matter experts, starting with a team of two (one full-time and one-contractor)
• Work with IT and Central Marketing functions to identify and build-out proper infrastructure for operating campaigns (ad server, bid management solutions, affiliate network partner, etc…)
• Partnering with development and product management teams to ensure highest SEO rankings for key terms, and best in user experience for converting new consumers
• For relevant channels and infrastructure, negotiate and contract new partners
• Work with analytics to forecast investment needed to drive needed acquisition numbers into a particular game
• Define test and expand strategies for relevant paid acquisition channels, working closely with analytics to accurately examine the channels results. Examples of paid channels include:
o Browser/Mobile SEM
o Browser/Mobile Display (Exchange/DSP, Network, Re-targeting/ behavioral targeting)
o Browser Affiliate partners
o Console ads
• Define optimal media mix of paid and non-paid channels to acquire profitable segments of consumers
• Work with research and analytics to understand lifetime values of key segments and channels those segments are converting from
• Build partnerships with key internal customers – product marketing and program marketing, as well as internal counterparts focused on acquisition in other labels
The right candidate will have the following level of experience:
• 7+ years of digital acquisition experience
• Experience leading team of direct-reports
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Ability to successfully navigate a matrix organization, building key internal partnerships
• Technical understanding of how marketing stack functions and needs to operate the stack
• Structured, innovative, entrepreneurial spirit
• Fine balance of creative and analytical abilities
• Strong product management experience
• Experience with, and understanding of platforms digital games are served through – mobile, social, browser and console
• Precise attention to detail and innate desire for excellence
• Experience with setting priorities and champion projects
Education: Bachelors’ degree preferred
