The Marketing and Sales teams are critical to the success of any game. The Marketing team works closely with game developers to ensure the game has a clear design and a clear ‘X’ factor, (i.e., the defining element of the game that makes it unique and the ultimate reason behind why our customers should pay for and play our game). The Marketing team identifies the key audience for our games and tailors the marketing strategy to communicate clearly to the intended target. The Sales team is responsible for making sure the game reaches all relevant distribution points, so that our customers can find our games at their favorite shopping destinations.

Role Overview

Marketing Directors are responsible for leading the strategic marketing for all games created in their studio. They work closely with game development teams to ensure that every game reflects the needs of the target audience, and they design marketing strategies to maximize global success and beat revenue targets, securing buy-in from key business stakeholders around the world.
Marketing Directors must deliver world-class marketing communications materials, including advertising, packaging, and online assets in partnership with a range of creative teams. They work closely with PR Managers to ensure that PR plans are impactful and achievable. They also must ensure that the EA territory sales, marketing, and PR teams are equipped with the information and assets they need to drive constant growth.

Marketing Directors provide constant communication to Studio and Marketing teams on marketing plans, sales figures, and local market conditions. They also work closely with the studio leadership to identify new business opportunities, whether they're in new markets, on new devices, or with new business models.

What skills does EA look for??

Marketing Directors at EA are expected to have 7-10 years of marketing experience in at least one of the following areas:

- Videogame industry (preferred)
- Entertainment industry (i.e., music, film, or television)
- Consumer products industry

Marketing Directors should have 3+ years of direct personnel management experience of small teams (3-5 people). They must understand and have experience playing major videogame titles, and ideally they are passionate gamers. Marketing Directors should have an understanding of the games market from a business perspective. Exemplary strategic and creative thinking abilities are essential for the success of a Marketing Director. They must also have great presentation skills and be able to communicate in a clear and effective manner. A successful Marketing Director is also an excellent motivator and leader who can inspire individuals and teams to execute at a very high level.

The MAXIS Label is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated Director of Marketing to join the Maxis Label marketing team. You will help define new products that will shape the future of mobile gaming and mobile entertainment.

The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading the product marketing team for all marketing aspects for The Sims products through the entire life-cycle from Launch to EOL (end of life).

The successful, qualified candidate will:

-Manage the product marketing team with each member overseeing a mix of products within a product category through their lifecycle: definition, development, introduction, maintenance, and obsolescence in close co-operation with the worldwide marketing teams as well as EA Marketing.
-Thrive in a global cross-functional team with Studio, Business Development, Sales and the marketing communications team through the complete product development cycle.
-Manage the process used to define a products features.
-Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations to pursue future products.
-Collect global consumer and partner requirements and monitor emerging trends for future product development.
-Manage tradeoffs involving features, schedule, cost, pricing, line positioning, and lifecycle management.
-Discern new product development opportunities while contributing to the development of the overall product line strategy.
-Possess expert knowledge of competitive and 3rd party products.
-Make pricing and forecasting recommendations to management and cross-functional teams.
-Define product positioning and key product messages in relation to other products and the competition.
-Work with the marketing communications team, advertising agency and PR agency on the development and implementation of go-to-market strategies, ensuring successful launch execution and clear consumer messaging of key product roll-outs.
-Develop and deliver results-driven integrated marketing campaigns that span all marketing disciplines (e.g. branding, multi-channel marketing, PR, promotions, Web/online advertising & search, retail marketing, traditional advertising, merchandising, email, and direct mail). Drive cross-functional teams to develop and execute on marketing plans.
-Work to continuously improve/promote offerings and optimize response/ROI on marketing initiatives. Work closely within Marketing to lead cross-functional efforts to achieve sales, conversion, revenue and ROI targets.
-Act as the ambassador for designated products (e.g. attending trade shows, sales visits, partner/licensee meetings and press briefings).


Minimum qualifications:
-BS/BA degree, MS/MA/MBA preferred.
-8+ years Product Management experience having managed at least one entire product development cycle from concept to introduction. PC, Console, Mobile, online, digital entertainment or consumer electronics experience strongly preferred.
-Experience in managing/leading a group of product marketers.
-Requires strong oral and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated success as a product spokesperson on a regional, national or global level.
-Must have experience formulating product messaging and creating outbound marketing.
-Must have passion for interactive entertainment.
-Requires some travel.
