We're looking for an Engineering Director to establish an engineering group that will
create tools and technology for our marketing, CRM, and analytics teams. You will be
responsible for building engineering teams and selecting technologies that will
enable the next generation of customer understanding and relationship for Playfish.
Responsibilities:
▪ Assume responsibility for the engineering organization that delivers technology
for marketing, CRM, and analytics needs.
▪ Work closely with business leaders to define, design, and deliver new components
and features.
▪ Scale up rapidly, and lead, multiple cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
▪ Make engineering tradeoffs between short-term and long-term needs according
to business priorities.
▪ Identify and implement technologies and processes that will improve our
efficiency and productivity, and expand our capabilities.
What we're looking for:
▪ Demonstrable and practical understanding of the development and operation of
low-latency, massively scalable, highly available distributed server systems;
especially those based on Java and Linux.
▪ Significant experience leading agile development teams in a fast-paced
environment; strong understanding of the motives behind agile development as
well as agile principles and methodologies.
▪ Understanding of the limitations and opportunities of virtualized operational
environments, especially AWS.
▪ Broad knowledge of technologies and components, particularly open source
technologies; and experience evaluating and selecting technologies for specific
use cases.
▪ Practical, pragmatic, and goal-oriented approach to technical decision-making;
scientific and analytical approach to problem solving.
▪ Ability to perform deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and
storage combined with ability to translate technical issues into a business
objectives discussion with business leaders.
▪ Mix of intelligence, integrity, domain knowledge, communications skills, and
diplomacy which allows you to rapidly earn the trust of technical teams across the
company.
