My client is a fun games developer whose studio has modern open plan offices with public transport links at a stone’s throw away.
They are an energetic, creative studio where everyone can contribute to all aspects of games development. You’ll find them informal and flexible, but hard working and passionate about what they do.
They are currently ooking for an enthusiastic and talented Experienced/Senior Concept Artist/Storyboard Artist to join their team.
Skills Required:
-Traditional and digital art media
-Architectural and contemporary design ability
-Good perspective and compositional ability
-Good Figure drawing ability
-3D software awareness
-Visual problem solving ability
-2D Layout
Experience- Not necessarily all to inculde:
-Games/Film/TV/Animation/Illustration/Product design
What my client wants to see in your portfolio:
-Character design – A range of styles and influences
-Props- I.e. Vehicles etc
-World environments – Isometric and greyscale perspectives showing a range of styles
-Matt painting – Both rough and complete examples
-Storyboarding – Cinematic rather than cartoon –to show good Storytelling - both rough and finished examples
-Colour theory – To demonstrate good use of colour appropriate to the emotional intent
-Composition – To show good layout, framing
-Lighting – To portray different mood/lighting set ups
The successful candidate will work closely with the Production/Art director to develop the visual look of the game. This may be through rough sketches/tonal work to develop environments/characters or full colour illustrations of important scences. This will also include storyboarding design intentions within a cinematic frame bringing the game to life.
