The IEB Finance team is looking for a highly motivated and confident finance professional to support a senior management team within Microsoft Studios. MS Studios is chartered with the creation of AAA content for a number of entertainment platforms and is responsible for developing industry-leading franchise successes such as Halo, Gears of War, Fable and Forza.


This is a highly visible position and requires best of class financial analysis, deep business partnering, insightful reporting and strong communication skills in support of several MS Studios business teams. This job also provides a unique opportunity for full visibility into the creative art of game development and the interactive entertainment initiatives at Microsoft. Opportunity for advancement exists for someone who gains a strong knowledge of the games industry, effectively engages with MS Studios business partners and can translate knowledge of financial processes into valuable reporting, analysis and insight for MS Studios financial results.


Key responsibilities will include:


Lead finance and accounting support for the Studios Shared Services teams (Games Test, Localization, Central Art/Audio and Games IT), the Studios Strategy team and the Studios Business Development team. Partner with GMs, Team Leads and Business Managers to provide regular reporting, analytics and business intelligence.


More specifically:


- Manage the process and timelines for the Studios Quarterly Financial Forecasting cycle (Studios Opex, Revenue, and COGS) through partnership with the business and other Studios and IEB Central Finance leads

- Drive key deliverables for the monthly financial close, including: publish monthly Controllable Cost Statements (actuals & variances by studio), publish monthly and LTD Gross Margin by title, prepare and ensure proper revenue deferral for affected products

- Play a key role in the financial business planning processes for Studios including: Long Range Planning (LRP), Strategy Review, Target Setting, and Fiscal Year Budgeting

- Conduct monthly studio opex reviews with GMs and business/team leads for the Shared Services, Studios Strategy and Studios Biz Dev teams

- Partner with the Shared Services team leads to update ROI models and drive recommendations for localizing our entertainment experiences

- Own and manage key responsibilities for the overall Studios Finance team, including: P&L Reorg and Restatements for Studios, management of all Studios financial Master Data and Product/Cost Hierarchies, and cost Allocation rules.

- Drive deep analysis around the Annual and LTD profitability of Studios content, including updates to the current ROI/P&L model and data mining for key trends in planning assumptions and forecast accuracy across the portfolio

- Analyze retail Pricing and Margin structures across Studios products, including regional variances and lifecycle price waterfalls

Lead special projects and ad hoc requests as required


Qualifications:


- 4-5 years of demonstrated financial analysis work experience, preferably in the entertainment industry (video games, movies, music, interactive entertainment)

- Very strong spreadsheet competency with Excel required.

- Knowledge of MS Finance tools (e.g., MS Sales, Mercury, SAP, Afred, Informa, Headtrax, MS People) is a significant asset

- Srong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail and reporting accuracy

- Very strong interpersonal skills (written and oral) and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of levels of personnel. Deep commitment to building strong partnerships is required

- Strong project management skills with the ability to identify and implement process improvements. Ability to manage multiple projects and reprioritize as necessary to align with current business objectives

- Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing tasks/priorities

- Detailed oriented & thorough, with ability to think “big picture” and understand the key trends and levers that drive the business

- Experience supporting software development and business expense functions at MSFT or similar company/industry is preferred

- BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting and an MBA or CPA is highly valued
