Gameplay Programmer - North UK
My client is one of the UK's most prolific and secure independent Games developers. Founded in 2003 they have had a string of successful titles across all gaming platforms working on major franchise titles for some of the most recognised Publishers in the games industry.
They are working on a number of exciting AAA titles and need to expand their team once more to make their games the best they can be.
The Role:
The Gameplay Programmer will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a range of gameplay and game systems code, making key contributions to the overall quality of gameplay experience. This may include but is not limited to AI, UI, Physics, Tools and general gameplay systems.
Essential Job Functions:
• Design, implement and support software systems for gameplay features.
• Work closely with game designers to evaluate and refine gameplay mechanics.
• Create and maintain technical software documentation.
Knowledge Requirements:
• Solid experience in a similar role
• C++
• Object-oriented software engineering
• Experience using source control systems (e.g. Perforce, CVS, SVN)
• Scripting (python/perl/etc…)
• Knowledge of game content creation pipelines and tools
• Strong maths skills, especially in trigonometry and linear algebra
• Knowledge of games systems (3D graphics, animation, camera control, lighting) Demonstrated Ability To:
• Work well/respond to pressure
• Communicate effectively within a large group/multiple project environment
• Think critically and apply analytical skills in resolving complex issues
• Quickly master proprietary tools and development processes
• Debug complex systems.
