The IT team is absolutely critical to the success of EA. To build world class games, it is vital to ensure that EA technology is not only stable but is on the cutting edge. There are a variety of different roles within IT Support, and each comes with its own set of requirements, expectations, and responsibilities. Roles include Desktop Support Manager; Desktop Support Technician/Technical Support; Infrastructure Support Manager; IT Director; IT Technician Systems Administrator.

Role Overview

IT Technicians provide a wide range of IT Support for the company, including PC support, from component diagnosis and replacement to software installation, as well as problem diagnosis and resolution and network-related issue diagnosis and resolution. They must have strong skills in Windows (2000/XP) and MS Office and have experience with PC imaging and remote management.

IT Technicians must have a background with network support, basic network troubleshooting, antivirus, and TCP/IP skills. They create Active Directory user and group accounts, perform modification and deletion, and create and implement group policy. Other duties include network permissions modification and troubleshooting, server support, file backups and restores, and network-based licensing support. They also assist Facilities with training and meeting setup, security badge administration, workspace setup and moves (desk, equipment, phone), phone system administration (voice mail, extension setup, etc.), printer support (replace toner/ink, resolve paper jams and similar issues), and helping users with printing and driver installation. IT Technicians perform inventory management by maintaining stock for PC and development hardware and tracking location and status of assets. They also help the documentation team by documenting new and existing IT processes and procedures.

What skills does EA look for??

IT Technicians must have a strong work ethic and excellent general troubleshooting abilities. They must be teachable, have a customer service-oriented personality, and have strong written and oral communication skills. IT Technicians must also have exceptional prioritization, organization, and time-management abilities, and they are typically self-starters who take direction and constructive criticism well. They must pay attention to detail, have superior decision-making and judgment skills, and be team players who work well under the pressure of deadlines. It’s a plus to have experience with Linux, Mac OS9 and OSX, as well as various graphics and software development applications and version control systems.
