Lead Animator

Mako Games is currently seeking a Lead Animator to develop cutting-edge motion control games for Natal. The position is full time, on-site at our Stamford, Connecticut office.
A Lead Animator is a highly capable individual with deep experience in many of the artistic aspects of game development. A Lead Animator mentors other animators and lends expertise to improve company-wide art production pipelines.
Responsibilities:
• Dive deeply into the Natal motion-sensing technology to provide artistic technical guidance for innovative game play. This position is essential to the "fun factor" in the game and is largely responsible for the overall game play.
• Ensure that animation is high quality photo-realistic human motion
• Mentor and manage other animators in the group.
• Manage external animation outsourcers
• Plan and execute motion capture sessions
• Working with the production team, create and maintain the animation schedule
• Create final quality animations and rigs
• Check content from the animation group for technical integrity
• Ready to move quickly between projects as expert assistance is needed.
• Pioneer use of new technologies.
• Seek ways to improve the tools and systems used by the content creators.
Qualifications:
• Fluent knowledge of Maya
• Experience as a Lead or Senior Animator
• Direct experience with motion capture game development
• At least 1 shipped game title on next-gen consoles
• Strong technical skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Passion for gaming and what makes them tick
Plusses:
• Experience with Natural Motion’s Morpheme engine is a major plus
• Experience with Emergent's Gamebryo engine is a major plus
