Lead Designer

Stamford, Connecticut
Mako Games is currently seeking a Lead Designer to develop cutting-edge motion control games for Natal. The position is full time, on-site at our Stamford, Connecticut office.

A Lead Designer is a highly capable individual with deep experience in many of the design aspects of game development. A Lead Designer mentors other designers, lends expertise in company-wide creative direction, and seeks to improve design processes across the company.

Responsibilities:

• Dive deeply into the Natal motion-sensing technology to create innovative game play. This position is essential to the "fun factor" in the game and is responsible for the overall game play.

• Create and maintain the design documentation

• Collaborate with the other team leads to ensure the design is in sync with the established requirements

• Work with the production team to build and maintain the design schedule for the project

• Mentor and manage the other designers in the group.

• Ready to move quickly between projects as expert assistance is needed.

• Pioneer use of new technologies.

• Seek ways to improve the tools and systems used by the content creators.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of game design processes

• Experience with motion based games involving human characters

• Experience as a Lead or Senior Designer

• At least 1 shipped game title on next-gen consoles

• Ability to work well in a team environment

• Strong communication and problem solving skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Passion for gaming and what makes them tick

Plusses:

• Experience with Natural Motion’s Morpheme engine is a major plus

• Experience with Emergent's Gamebryo engine is a major plus
