Position Purpose

The Lead Environment Artist is responsible for overall efforts of the environment art department including creation of rich and detailed environments based on the vision set forth by the Art Director.  The Lead Environment Artist will assist in performance management and conflict resolution within the department. 

 

CONTENT CREATION

  • Oversee the work of the art team on a daily basis, effectively communicating art direction and delivering constructive feedback to work in progress.
  • Help define and ensure technical art requirements are met. 
  • Quickly learn, adapt and teach proprietary software used by the environment art team
  • Meet production schedules and deadlines
  • Accurately assess time and resources required for assigned tasks
  • Troubleshoot Environment art issues from a creative and technical standpoint
  • Provide documentation for techniques and methodologies to create environment art as well as the environment art pipeline


TEAMWORK

  • Collaborate with Art, Design and Programming Department to ensure assets meet visual, technical and gameplay requirements
  • Communicate with production on dependencies and progress
  • Mentor and lead other Environment Artists

Work with Engine Group to convey the best possible environment art presentation

Participate in performance management and conflict resolution

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 yrs of applicable industry experience with no less than 2 shipped titles
  • Excellent knowledge of advanced art techniques involving high res modeling and transferring Normal maps
  • Excellent knowledge of game environment design and construction
  • Possess the ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes
