Lead Game Designer

Functional Duties

The primary function of the Lead Game Designer is to communicate their vision of the product to the team giving them clear, focussed goals and objectives.

Working with the Senior Management Team to deliver the highest quality product to time and budget.

Constantly reviewing the product with the Technical and Art Directors.

Motivating, inspiring and leading the team to perform to their potential.

Discuss progress with external stakeholders and align the product as best as possible with requirements.

Assimilate information to enable key decision making and information dissemination to the team.

Collaborate to efficiently design, validate and amend core design concepts, features and assets, meeting expected quality standards.

Collaborate with Development Managers to effectively plan the delivery of core design concepts, features and assets.

Communicate the design to the team using visual design techniques and traditional documentation.

Project Tracking

It is the Lead Designers responsibility to track the overall quality of the product.

Compile short, concise and accurate weekly project reports for senior management alongside the Development Manager.

Discuss milestones and other project requirements with external stakeholders to establish the required quality of these deliverables.

At any time be prepared to report on project status to senior management.

Collaborate with individual Area Leads to design, validate and amend core design concepts, features and assets efficiently and to quality.

Have worked as a core team member during the early stages of development.

Demonstrate an encyclopaedic knowledge of games.

Be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written form.

Skills and Experience

Has extensive knowledge of the market place.

Has held responsibility in the delivery of AAA product titles over long and short production cyles.

Managed varied size & cross disciplinary development teams.

Has working knowledge, understanding and experience of Srum & other Agile project management methodologies.

An excellent knowledge and interest in computer games products.

Knowledge of technical restrictions and specifications for consoles and machines use in game development.

Experience of working with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) with different goals.
