Lead Level Designer
Chicago, IL
We are recruiting for a Lead Level Designer for our upcoming projects. This is a great opportunity to work on a project in the early stages of pre-production. We are looking for an individual with the following skill set.
Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
o Ability to motivate and manage a team of level designers to reliably hit milestones
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record in AAA level design
o Contribute to a collaborative environment with all disciplines, including art, production, engineering, design and QA
o Participate and host creative sessions, development meetings, reviews, and planning sessions
AAA understanding and experience in mission/environment design, with a passion to push for exceptional experiences
o Knowledge of AI systems, combat mechanics, player strategy’s, game-flow, pacing, and balance
o A flair for inspiring a team to create innovative game-play solutions and memorable cinematic moments
o Ability to understand, communicate and implement major gameplay systems and features into all levels
o Mentor other designers in tools, design and communication
Personal pride in building the highest quality levels for AAA games
o Clearly communicate to project leaders on current level layouts and status of level development
o Develop level layouts with team members in a collaborative environment
o Create, balance and polish high quality level design using in house tools tailored to leverage the strengths of the engine and target platform.
o Have passion for a broad range of game experiences, and be well versed in market trends and styles
Finally, a take no prisoners, accept no substitutes, no holds barred, battle royale, passion for games and gaming greatness
Skills/Requirements
o 5 + years minimum industry experience
o Minimum of 1 Shipped AAA title (preferably with at least one current console generation title)
o Prototyping skills required.
o Have a proactive work ethic, capable and creative problem solver who is not afraid of big challenges.
o Ability to manage and multitask
o Scrum master and brainstorming training a plus
