Lead Programmer

POSITION PURPOSE
 
The Lead Game Programmer’s primary responsibility is to supervise and direct the efforts of the programming team. This candidate will be responsible for creating technical design documents for games and outlining risks and defining systems that will be used in the production. The Lead Game Programmer will work with the other departments Leads to create and complete the product on time to the level of quality desired.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
CONTENT CREATION
  • Coordinate all aspects of technical game development with project management
  • Develop detailed designs for software tasks in collaboration with project leads, providing input for scheduling
  • Research and acquire new knowledge to achieve project goals and to improve upon existing technology
 
TEAMWORK
  • Work with Tools, Technology leads and Directors to communicate needs of the project and to help drive game and engine technology
  • Work with minimum supervision in a quick and timely manner to achieve goals and meet deadlines
  • Mentor and support other programmers on team
  • Conduct interviews, provide feedback on candidates
  • Monitor and review the performance of subordinate programmers
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • 5+ years experience in a development role with at least 3 shipped titles
  • Excellent knowledge of C/C++ and console development best practices
  • Excellent debugging skills as well as excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of game development tools and systems (Level editors, ect…)
  • Practical experience with 3D Math
  • Proven ability to mentor less experienced programmers
  • Familiar knowledge of Maya/3DS Studio Max
  • Experience with Source Control Systems
