Lighting / Composition Supervisor, Cinematics

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a Cinematic Lighting/Compositing Supervisor to oversee the artistic and technical development of the Lighting/Compositing department in our full CG productions. This would include leading the team in achieving the artistic vision of the director and art director. They must be comfortable working with art direction that ranges from realistic to highly stylized lighting. Additionally, they would determine the technical needs for the team by coordinating the R&D, Tools, Production Tech, and IT/infrastructure teams. This person will also help determine the future direction of the Lighting/Compositing team, and will share the responsibility of managing and problem solving for the team.

- Provide artistic supervision to the Lighting/Compositing team. Lead the team artistically by guiding them in achieving the projects’ artistic vision
- Extensive knowledge of Rendermain in a CG production environment
- Extensive knowledge of Nuke in a CG production environment
- Work with our Look Dev department to create complete lighting solutions
- Help develop and maintain all aspects Lighting/Compositing team pipeline. Work with the team to develop workflows, techniques and practices as well as identify, develop and maintain current Lighting/Compositing tools.
- Provide technical support to Lighting/Compositing team this includes: Troubleshoot lighting, compositing, shader, and rendering issues and troubleshoot Maya/mtor/renderfarm issues
- Work with Modeling and LookDev to ensure useable models and shaders
- Review models and their renderablilty
- Review shaders and aovs to ensure visual quality and identify technical issues
- Provide direct feedback to Modeling/LookDev on all aspects of shaders
- Work with upstream departments to help develop the best possible workflow for the projects
- Work with the department manager to determine the future needs of the team including hardware, software, methods and staffing
- Supervise artists and provide work direction, performance reviews, and coaching for the team.
- Administer staffing decisions that help achieve both short and long term goals of the Lighting/Compositing team.
- Work with production to help create and manage team schedules and ensure proper workflow throughout the department.
- Partner with the Art Director, VFX Supervisor and Production to manage career paths of the team.
- Passion for Lighting and techniques used to achieve different lighting solutions
- Ability to create complete lighting solutions
- Ability to problem solve faulty lighting solutions
- Two years plus experience as a lighter/compositor
- Up to date knowledge of the latest hardware and software
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent artistic and technical problem solving skills
- Strong understanding of lighting/compositing technology
- A Passion for Games and Film.
- Programming experience in C/C++, Python, Mel, MaxScript, RSL
