One of the top 3 independent European developers is currently looking for an exciting and dynamic Motion Graphics Artist to join their studio in a new role.
Currently employing 200+ staff split between multiple genre and platform specific teams and producing titles under recognised brand names, our client not only has a strong portfolio of PC and console titles but also supplies software to the government and for educational purposes. The role of the Motion Graphics Artist is to create dynamic, animated graphics and movie sequences for both games in development as well as any promotional and marketing materials required for the studio.
Specific requirements for this role:
To perform this role, you must understand the art of telling a story and conveying a message by combining imagery, motion graphics, video and audio.
You will be involved in all phases of the design process, including concept development, storyboarding, animation, graphic design, and production in a wide range of areas including intro sequences, in game cinematics, user-interfaces, logo idents/branding, and advertising graphics in a range of different styles and specifications.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate high quality, professional design and motion skills, as well as a good working knowledge of digital, typographical and user-interface design principles.
This is a multi disciplinary role that requires high levels of creativity and self-motivation.
Directly reporting to: Creative Producer / Media & Graphics Manager / Art Manager (As appropriate)
Duties:
Below is a non-exhaustive list of the Company’s expectations of a Motion Graphics Artist. Whilst the job holder may focus and specialise in one particular area below, they are expected to have knowledge of all areas and be able to provide support or cover as required.
Motion Sequences
•Design, layout and assemble the visual elements for animated sequences under the direction of relevant Lead or Manager. These could include but is not limited by the following;
•Animated sequences for in game cinematics as required
•Animated sequences for pitch materials as required
•Design and create animated logo idents and splash screens for both the studio and games in development
•Animated graphics for web design and development as required
Game User-Interface & Menu Design
•Conceptualise and prototype interface functionality, look, and feel.
•Create and implement in-game, front end menu systems
•Create the in-game heads-up displays
•Design and implement console specific front ends and menu systems
•Create ‘graphic design’ centric game art assets
Essentials:
Graphic Design:
•Layout and composition
•Typographic design and layout
•Font selection and design
•Logo and icon design
•Colour theory application
Software Knowledge:
•Expert level skills in Adobe CS3 or higher
•High level skills in After Effects
•Skills in Flash
•A good level of knowledge in a video editing package such as Premiere or Final Cut Pro
•Artistic Flexibility – A robust broad spectrum of artistic ability demonstrating a diverse range of art styles.
•Conceptual Flexibility – Ability to evolve and develop visual concepts either alone with great freedom or within a very closely defined set of briefed criteria.
•Multi-tasking – Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in an often pressurised, creative and time sensitive environment.
•Team Player
Beneficial Qualities:
•General games industry experience is preferred but not required.
•Pre-visualisation – The ability to rapidly prototype a user interface look and flow - primarily using After Effects and supported with industry standard packages such as Flash / Dreamweaver
