Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for day-to-day transactional processing of GL entries to enable accurate and timely monthly reporting for the Northern Publishing and Label business units for legal entities in the Northern region, particularly UK and Developing Territories, primarily Greece , Turkey and Middle East.

• Responsible for processing and controls to comply with statutory reporting and tax requirements for the legal entities for the UK. Liaise with the internal and external auditors (KPMG) and managing the day-to-day interaction with KPMG and internal audit.

• Make sure that the UK entity is SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliant and the required controls are completed and provided to the director for sign-off and review in an accurate and timely manner.

• Management of a team of 3 accountants, including performance appraisals, annual reviews and mentoring. Emphasis on team development and coaching of team members.

• Contract review in partnership with legal team for the UK entities.

• Liaise with Business partners including legal, sales, marketing and HR to ensure consistency of best practices and knowledge sharing. Including review meetings with budget holders as part of EA’s monthly close cycle.

• Manage in partnership with EA's corporate Treasury group all day-to-day treasury matters in the Northern region including currency hedging and cash flow analysis.

• US GAAP knowledge essential including revenue recognition, foreign currency translation / hedging and taxation.


The Ideal Candidate will require the following skills and experience:


o Qualified by experience or ACA or equivalent, with experience gained from working in a top tier professional services firm and/or extensive practical experience in senior accounting/finance management/controlling experience.

o Strong compliance and internal controls experience –through formal qualification and/or experience – and a willingness to ensure maintenance of an up to date technical awareness of relevant US GAAP, corporate governance and tax issues

o Strong knowledge and experience in revenue recognition and statutory requirements in the noted countries

o Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality numbers and reporting.

o The ability to effectively communicate technical and general accounting issues to less qualified staff or non-finance staff and managers, both orally and in writing

o Strong time manager – clearly able to identify priorities, respond to stakeholders professionally and manage communications clearly at all times

o Impeccable personal integrity; confidence in representing the Finance team within EA

o Strong systems experience and interest (Oracle and Hyperion preferred, but must have an aptitude for developing automated solutions), advanced Excel skills.

o Experience of managing UK GAAP statutory preparation and audit process.
