Quality Assurance Technicians, or Testers, perform a vital role in game development, testing, tuning, debugging, and suggesting detailed refinements that lead to higher quality and better playability of the finished game. The job involves playing (i.e., testing) the game in a systematic way, analyzing the game’s performance against the designer’s intentions, identifying problems, and suggesting improvements. In effect, they act as the game’s first audience, reporting on playability and identifying any aspects which could be improved. Testers are responsible for assuring quality in the final product and for finding flaws in a game before it goes public.
Role overview
As a QA Compliance Tester, you will be responsible for running test cases/test suites, performing regression testing, verify claimed bug fixes and entering data into a bug tracking system. Teamwork and a professional attitude is KEY to this role.
Although video game testing can be fun and rewarding, it is hard work. We are looking for responsible, dependable candidates who have an eye for detail, great work ethics, excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. We need people who are able to work a flexible schedule as work days may vary from week to week. There will be overtime opportunities.
YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER.
There is no off-site testing. You must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Relocation is at your own cost. If you are willing to relocate, please SERIOUSLY consider the feasibility and economics of relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area for a temporary position at $10.00 per hour salary before applying.
Key responsibilities (Varies depending on experience):
- Identify software defects, run test suites, verify fixes
- Run test cases and perform tasks dictated by QA Compliance Leadership
- Acquire knowledge of internal & 1st Party guidelines on multiple platforms
What skills does EA look for??
Required Skills:
- Self starter
- Good organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic to advanced software troubleshooting skills
- Ability to remain focused until project completion
Desired skills:
- Experience and understanding of console or PC game testing
- Experience in testing 1st Party Guidelines on multiple platforms
- Software troubleshooting
Experience:
- Tester on at least 1 - 4 released software products
- Minimum 6 months software test experience. 1 year plus preferred.
- Game industry experience strongly preferred but not necessary
- Knowledge of 1st Party Guidelines on any of the next generation platforms is a plus
Education:
1. High School diploma
2. Bachelors Degree or equivalent desirable
