Senior Animator needed at an Exceptional Studio working on Console Projects!
My client is one of the UK's most prolific and secure independent developers. Founded in 2003 they have had a string of successful titles across all gaming platforms working on major franchise titles for some of the most recognised Publishers in the games industry.
They are working on a number of exciting AAA titles and need to expand their team once more to make their games the best they can be.
The Role:
The Senior Animator is primarily responsible for creating dynamic and compelling character animations (key frame animation or motion-capture based) depicting actions and behaviours required for gameplay purposes.
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop high level production quality animation assets; key framed or motion capture in a variety of styles that provide examples for the overall animation style(s) desired for the project.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of animation as they apply to the animation design.
• Perform research and reference gathering to acquire the necessary knowledge to perform assigned animation tasks.
• Assist in Lead responsibilities such as mentoring, scheduling and R&D; into new features.
• Contribute to the conceptualization of character behaviours and abilities.
• Provide detailed input during the character creation process, from concept to modelling to final rigging, identifying character performance and functionality requirements.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the pipelines and procedures within the project.
• Able to direct MOCAP talent during character rehearsal and motion capture shoots.
• Assist in the selection of motion capture data from motion capture studios.
Knowledge Requirements:
• Minimum of at least 1-2 completed game titles.
• Practical experience with a strong demo reel that adequately reflects this experience.
• Solid knowledge of Maya and/or 3DstudioMax/MotionBuilder.
• Thorough understanding of animation fundamentals for human/non human characters.
• Understanding of Character creation process from concept, to modeling.
• Demonstrable experience in creating animation of a high standard while maintaining visual and functional specifications for game mechanics.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Requirements:
• Character modeling, texturing and rigging skills.
• Traditional Animation Background.
• Technical aptitude and experience with Maya and Mel scripting.
• Character conceptualization skills.
• Storyboarding.
• Knowledge of cinematography.
