Senior Character Artist needed at an Exceptional Studio working on Console Projects!
My client is one of the UK's most prolific and secure independent developers. Founded in 2003 they have had a string of successful titles across all gaming platforms working on major franchise titles for some of the most recognised Publishers in the games industry.

They are working on a number of exciting AAA titles and need to expand their team once more to make their games the best they can be.

Position Purpose
The Senior Character Artist creates high quality character models from initial concept to game implementation.
Essential Job Functions

CONTENT CREATION
• Create low and high poly models that adhere to required guidelines
• Create 3D models for rigging and animation as required
• Create high resolution models for normal map baking
• Create textures and materials, including shaders for 3D models as required
• Meet production schedules and deadlines
• Assist in the development of shader and lighting technology to enhance character art production
• Review models in game for accuracy
• Accurately assess time and resources required for assigned tasks
• Troubleshoot Character art issues from a creative and technical standpoint
• Create documentation for techniques and methodologies for creating character art as well as the character art pipeline
• Helps create method and schedules used for character asset creation

TEAMWORK
• Work with character and concept artists to ensure delivery of high quality character models
• Collaborate with animation team to ensure proper character set-up
• Work with Engine Group to convey the best possible character presentation
• Mentor other Character Artists
• Help set the standard for model creation for the project

Knowledge Requirements
• Ability to model, texture, and light 3D Characters
• Excellent knowledge of at least one major 3D package (Maya preferred)
• Excellent knowledge of Photoshop or similar 2D program
• Experience with shaders
• Traditional art background
• Excellent knowledge of texture painting and UV application skills
• Strong understanding of game development process
