Senior Data Analyst

This position is the first of its kind at the studio, and the chosen candidate will play a key role in establishing the foundation for analytics tracking and reporting for all our mobile applications.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytics, data modeling, and reporting for either online retailers or social/mobile games. The successful candidate must be able to roll up their sleeves, define and create data models, then work directly with the data to draw conclusions to inform key decision makers. The Senior Data Analyst should be able to use the given data to create customized reports and give presentations to communicate analytical results in a clear and easy to understand way.

Responsibilities:

• Work with game developers and executives to identify key performance indicators to track and report.
• Work with game developers and external tool vendors to ensure that each game is properly instrumented for data tracking.
• Transform key elements of data into actionable datasets to be used as input for recommendation algorithms and predictive behavior models. Also use datasets to describe and segment players to focus user experience development and CRM communications.
• Perform ad hoc retrieval and analysis of data sample sets to draw material conclusions on the population.
• Design and maintain reports customized to the needs of different user groups - executives, producers, publishers etc. Create presentations and proposals for action, as appropriate.
• Work with developers to hypothesize, test, and monitor gameplay experiments on various user sets.

Experience and Preferred Skills:

• 5 + years of experience performing data analytics, preferably for an online shopping/travel retailer or social/mobile gaming company.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with creative people and resolve conflicts with competing ideas.
• Advanced Excel skills including creating pivot tables, using analysis add-on packs, writing macros and user defined functions in VBA, and connecting to ODBC data sources.
• Familiarity with basic statistical methods such as linear regression, and visualization methods such as scatter plots, time course plots/analysis and the use of percentiles for descriptive analysis. Experience with statistical software packages a plus.
• Strong in applied analytics using empirical data to support decision recommendations.
• Must either have a background in the video game industry or be an avid gamer.
• Excellent SQL skills with the ability to write queries for relational databases preferred
• Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics. Advanced Degree preferred.
