Senior Engine Programmer

Mako Games is currently seeking a Senior Engine Programmer to develop cutting-edge, motion control games for Xbox. The position is full time and on site at our Stamford, Connecticut office.
A Senior Engine Programmer is a highly capable individual with experience in many of the technical aspects of game development. He will mentor other programmers, lend expertise in company-wide technical direction, and seek to improve engineering processes across the company. This position is essential to the "fun factor" in the game and is largely responsible for the overall gameplay.
Responsibilities
• Dive deeply into the Natal motion-sensing technology to provide technical guidance for innovative gameplay.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize mid/high-level engine systems.
• Apply expert knowledge to projects, and assist in shaping larger technical direction.
• Mentor other programmers in the group.
• Move quickly between projects as expert assistance is needed.
• Play a leading role in the design and architecture of software.
• Pioneer use of new technologies.
• Seek ways to improve the tools and systems used by content creators.
Qualifications
• Strong C/C++ skills
• Strong debugging and profiling skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
• Passion for gaming and what makes them tick
Bonus points
• Game industry experience
• 3D Graphics programming experience
• Experience programming animation systems
• Experience with Emergent's Gamebryo is a major plus
