Senior Environment Artist
Overview
Seeking a highly motivated Senior Environment Artist for the Visceral Redwood Shores studio. This is a major opportunity to greatly contribute creatively to an exciting new IP. Environment Artists are responsible for building the in game environment geometry and props.

The ideal candidate has a solid technical understanding of environment asset creation, is able to communicate with other disciplines within the development team and is able to take creative direction from the Art Director.

Responsibilities
• Conceptualize, design, and create game environments.
• Work collaboratively with game designers and technical artists to understand and interpret level design requirements within the engine’s technical limitations.
• Support the Art Director and Environment Art Lead in the overall vision for the game while taking ownership on environment zones and props as assigned.
• Help mentoring and guiding junior artists.
• Work with technical artists and engineers in the development and streamlining of tools and processes.

Requirements
• Thorough knowledge of the game development process.
• Working knowledge of Maya, and/or other commercial 3D authoring packages.
• A keen eye for spatial composition.
• An understanding of effective asset creation and optimization.
• Excellent sense of form, mass and volume.
• Breadth of artistic styles.
• Experience creating textures is a plus.
• Experience creating environments using modular systems.

Experience & Qualities Sought
• Previous experience creating high quality environments for Xbox 360 and/or PS3 games.
• Expertise in low and hi-poly modeling for video games.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using ZBrush, Mudbox or similar packages.
• High degree of self-motivation and initiative.
• Organic terrain and hard surface modeling experience.
• An avid gamer is a plus.
• Experience in architecture, interior or industrial design is also a plus.
