ENTERTAINING IS OUR PASSION
Senior Manager, Licensing
EA was founded 30 years ago by individuals with a deep passion for making games. Many things have changed over the years as the gaming industry—and the company—has expanded immensely, but we are still driven by the same passion for developing, publishing, and distributing the world’s best games. Our history has been one of great success, and our future looks even brighter. Gaming has come a long way from Pac-Man & Space Invaders to modern EA Favorites like Battlefield, Mass Effect, Dead Space, Madden, Plants vs. Zombies, Need for Speed and the world’s most successful game franchise, The Sims. Fuelled by our talented staff at locations right across the Globe we are united in our passion to continue shaping the future of interactive entertainment. Together we can make a difference.
The Senior Manager, Licensing is responsible for managing and growing EA’s Licensing Division across our many game titles. This role includes formulating licensing strategies with the Game Teams, each of whom we work with quite closely in realizing their goals for their Licensing Programs, negotiation of deals, developing marketing plans in conjunction with EA’s marketing and retail groups, tracking progress toward revenue targets, exploring opportunities for new licensing initiatives, monitoring retail landscape and developing strategic opportunities with retailers, and day-to-day licensee relationship management and managing approvals. This role also requires ability to successfully coordinate efforts across a large, complex organization and multiple stakeholders.
The role will report to the Vice President of EA Entertainment and Licensing, the group at EA responsible for extensions of EA’s wholly owned IP into other media and products, including film, web series, animation, merchandise, book publishing, and music.
At EA, our licensing philosophy emphasizes quality over quantity, and marketing impact and brand building over pure revenue. We are seeking someone who has this same philosophy, a team player who communicates well and can navigate well within a multi-faceted corporate environment.
Specific Duties Include:
-Development of product licensing and marketing strategies and roll-out plans for profitable exploitation of a world-class IP portfolio.
- Full P and L responsibility including budgeting and quarterly forecasting; analysis of sales data; full contract management and royalty tracking responsibility.
-Liaison between internal studio game teams and licensees.
-Creation and implementation of marketing plans; ownership of communication objectives for all products, with an emphasis on direct-to-consumer awareness.
-Coordination with EA’s studio, marketing, community management, retail, and other functions to deliver highest impact on product sales.
-Management and negotiation of contracts.
-
Budgeting, forecasting and tracking of product sales; measurement of sales against targets.
-Evaluation and analysis of product and market trends, making recommendations to senior management about strategic direction for licensing.
-
Lead regular business reviews with licensees to include sales performance, competitive analysis, and retailer feedback.
-Periodic travel to relevant tradeshows and retailer meetings.
-
Ensure brand integrity across product lines.
-Drive promotional opportunities across EA’s network of direct-to-consumer marketing channels, and drive promotional opportunities with licensees and retail partners.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
-Leadership – Proven ability to create a vision, develop a plan to bring it to life, and motivate others to follow
- Results Oriented – continuously drives to get things done, regardless of challenges encountered
- Adaptable and Flexible – Reacts positively to change and views challenges as opportunities
- Analytical & Critical Thinking – Synthesizes multiple data inputs and makes compelling recommendations supported by a strong fact base
- Ability to collaborate with and influence senior level business partners across businesses and functions
- Effective presenter and communicator – verbal and written
Experience and Background
-Bachelor’s degree is required.
-5-10 years experience in consumer products licensing, preferably on licensor side.
- A team player able to work collaboratively with multiple teams, as well as across different business units and functions.
-Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Video game passion and knowledge a plus.
