SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER – GENERALIST – Kids and Lifestyle Entertainment
We are looking for an experienced engineer to join a new internal game studio focused on delivering high quality, original IP Kinect experiences for kids. Working with the engineering lead you will help drive the engineering team to deliver stable core systems and innovative gameplay experiences. While following good engineering practices you can demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of game development workflows and methodologies. Balancing agile development with deliverables to stakeholders you have an overall product awareness and can communicate risks, mitigation and impact. While you have at times been considered a subject matter expert in your field, you have also demonstrated excellent interpersonal awareness, an aptitude and efficiency when working in new areas with both technical and non-technical team members. A dynamic, respectful and collaborative problem solver, you excel at building innovative gameplay solutions.
RESPONSIBILILTIES:
- Help drive the analysis of technical and design issues
- Contribute to accurate planning and estimation efforts
- Works closely with the leads on the Engineering, Art, Design, and Production teams
- Contribute to the overall engine architecture
- Assess risks and develop mitigation plans
- Drive to deliver a high quality game experience
- Help to coach and mentor the team, keeping them engaged throughout the development process and supporting them in their professional growth.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have 7-8+ years of experience in video games.
- Must also have 2-3+ years of experience in a senior role (leadership a plus)
- Computer science or similar degree, or comparable experience
- Experience working on at least two existing console titles (PS3, Xbox360)
- Experience architecting and developing core systems, tools and pipelines
- Experience establishing workflows and development process
- Experience implementing OO designs
- Strong C++, C# experience (assembly language a plus)
- Strong debugging and optimization skills in a multi-threaded environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for creating an amazing game experience.
