Senior Technical Artist
The Senior Technical Artist is responsible for building a content creation pipeline with a focus on speed and simplicity. Your primary client group will be the artists, but you should enjoy working with both artists and engineers as you will play a key role in ensuring a successful working relationship. You should also be comfortable training artists in various aspects of the pipeline.
Candidate Responsibilities:
- Design and implement simple, fast, elegant data driven content creation pipelines
- Work with the Rendering Developer and the Art Director to find visual solutions for product
- Works with pipeline and rendering programmers to implement shaders and their pipeline
- Support both art and engineering
- Implement/maintain game wide pipelines working with engineering on implementation
- Supports artists by trouble shooting artwork, fixing work or pipeline bugs
- Create and improve all art pipelines, including but not limited to workflow/NIS/lighting/VFX
- Support the outsourcing pipeline
- Approve external vendor art from a technical standpoint
- Define the best practices for the art team.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must have 5-7+ years of experience in video games, film/television or equivalent. At least 3+ years as a Technical Artist.
- Proven track record of continuously improving content pipelines
- Experience in writing NPR shaders
- Understanding of data driven art content pipelines
- Understanding of real time rendering
- Understanding of rigging and animation workflows
- Understanding of lighting and shading
- Max scripting experience
- Build and rig their own models for testing
- Experience with Unity 3D is a huge asset
- Console experience is a big plus
- Experiences with different game engine middleware.
