Senior Technical & Special FX Artist
Leamington Spa
FreeStyleGames is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Senior Technical & Special FX Artist with the ability to design and create outstanding in-game SFX for a leading music game.
The ideal candidate must have proven experience within a similar role, be an exceptionally creative problem solver with outstanding technical knowledge of the process and tools for creating in-game artwork. The Sr. Technical Artist will report into the Creative Director and Art Manager and be expected to create artwork to the highest standards for all areas of SFX.
Responsibilities
* Work with programmers and artists to aid the realisation of art concepts using technical solutions both within the authoring pipeline and technical implementation
* R&D potential new techniques and improvements
* Shader creation and development
* Design, create and maintain tools and scripts
* Concept, design, prototype and create all aspects of real time SFX art work
* Drive the development of in house authoring, placement and triggering tools for SFX
* Development of SFX best practices
* Build and maintain SFX reference library
* Collaborate and communicate effectively with other developers
Qualifications/Attributes
* Positive and outgoing personality
* Expert knowledge of modern game engines and graphical techniques
* Technical expertise in 3DS Max
* Excellent knowledge of lighting principles
* Good understanding of animation concepts, requirements and processes
* Expert in 3DS Max or Maya for prototyping and designing SFX
* Expert in Adobe Photoshop for texture creation
* Good fine art skills
* Experience developing for next generation consoles
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Have a passion for games
Major Pluses
* Experience in the post production industry
* Experience in a lead role
* Scripting ability
* Hold a Degree in music, visual media, or film
