As a Senior Visual Web Designer at Riot you will have the opportunity to not only work with a team of “mad-skillz” visual and UX designers but also collaborate with smart, passionate people across the organization to raise the quality bar for League of Legends and create strong design solutions for a range of League of Legends products, including the LeagueofLegends.com website, Heads-Up Display (HUD), and collateral assets to help evolve and maintain an aesthetic that is second to none.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely in an Agile environment with UX designers, front-end developers, and key stakeholders to create a highly polished visual experience that represents brand, business, and end-user requirements
• Proactively identify opportunities for improvements, and propose innovative changes to the visual design process
• Work with Lead Visual Web Designer and other visual design team members to visually refine and evolve the Riot Games and League of Legends brands’ look and feel to create quality and consistency throughout League of Legends products
• Design assets such as visually branded user interfaces and support graphics that align with the brand style
• Generate, maintain, and disseminate design documents such as style guides and design pattern libraries that facilitate a high quality, consistent visual aesthetic.

Requirements:

• As a designer, you’re happiest when you’re pushing the envelope. While you’re entrepreneurial and hands-on, your best work comes from a place of collaboration and teamwork, which is perfect for this Agile environment.
• You have outstanding visual design skills with a strong sense of graphic design, layout, color, and typography with a deep appreciation for simple, sleek, and usable designs.
• You have a solid understanding of core User Experience Design principles as they relate to your craft
• You have an appreciation for using analytics and user research data to help inform and guide design decisions
• You can clearly articulate how and why effective designs help achieve business goals.
• You have experience working on high-traffic, deep-content sites that are CMS driven
• You most likely have experience designing for full-scale visual web redesigns as well as highly iterative aesthetic evolutions (over time) of sites (or maybe you don’t, but you really want to have this experience!)
• You are an expert at the design tools in your toolbox (e.g Photoshop, etc.)
• You understand the technologies used to create great web experiences (e.g. CSS, Flash, Javascript) enough that your designs account for their inherent strengths and limitations.
• You have an understanding of design patterns and visual design hierarchies/systems and their importance to the successful design of large-scale sites
• You play nice with others and recognize that the best results come from collaborative communication throughout your process.
• You enjoy helping to grow the design skills of other, more junior, designers but also realize that you still have a lot to learn (mentoring is a two-way street and you enjoy driving on it).
• You prefer Agile Development to Waterfall any day of the week
• Even if you don’t call yourself a gamer you have a love of games, especially online strategy games.
