Microsoft Game Studios is looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Software Development Engineer who has the undying desire to create the world’s greatest games and who is excited by innovation and exploring new dimensions of gaming. Our Publishing organization, responsible for launching titles such as Gears of War, Mass Effect, Crackdown, Kinectimals, and many others, is working on the next great franchises for Kinect, which will shape the future of interactive entertainment. Duties and responsibilities:

- Lead a team of experienced game developers in support of internal and external development

- Collaborate with external partners to solve technical issues, increase quality, and/or ensure a date

- Develop processes and technology to increase productivity of internal and external developers

- Evaluate, recommend, and exploit existing technology

- Evaluate milestones and provide technical analysis in support of key project checkpoints

- Develop in-game technologies that exploit key platform initiatives


Required skills and experience:

- Proven ability to lead a high performing team through multiple title releases

- Deep understanding of console game development

- 3 - 5 + years experience coding (C/C++) and debugging skills

- Ability to solve technical problems

- Strong communication skills

- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally


Desired skills and experience:

- 3+ years experience with common game scripting languages (UnrealScript, Lua, Python, etc.)

- 2+ years experience working in a publishing capacity

- 2+ years experience in a technical leadership role

- Network programming and/or Webservice APIs, NT/IIS and Web technologies and experience with C#, ASP.Net, WCF, SQL is a plus
