Software Engineer – Web Application Developer

The Web Application Developer will contribute to the development of critical business management tools, working closely with a User Experience Engineer and Product Management as well as stakeholders and other team members. This position focuses on the user facing portions of our web applications but will also be involved in the complete software development life cycle.
Required Skills

* Proven ability to design attractive, intuitive user interfaces independently or in cooperation with usability and design teams

Required Experience

* Perl in Unix/Linux environment
* Building standards compliant web interfaces including cross-browser testing and the use of JavaScript libraries
* Development of web applications involving perl, Apache web servers, HTML, CSS, AJAX and DBI/ORM tools in a production, customer facing environment
* Experience with Mason (preferred) , Template Toolkit or similar templating system
* Experience with financial applications, Internationalization and Localization a plus
* Working knowledge of MVC frameworks a plus (such as Catalyst or similar, Rose::HTML ideal)

Notes:

Candidate should be very interested in the user experience and be driven to provide the best workflow possible. Having read books on usability and UI design or attended conference sessions or classes on the subject is positive indicator. They should also have some experience with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, Prototype, YUI or similar.

This is a strong Perl development position. However for an otherwise strong candidate only basic Perl experience is required if they have equivalent experience in another dynamic programming language (Ruby, Python or even PHP).
