The senior software engineer role involves a broad understanding of the game code and ownership of the design and maintenance of the rendering sub-system. This role requires leadership and communication skills to be an effective tech lead for a team of engineers while interfacing with technical directors, art directors, and cg supervisors. Our senior engineers are responsible for innovation and guidance of the engine level rendering technology as well as developing and training engineers of all levels. Senior engineers help to develop our team’s roadmaps and milestones.
• Responsibilities
o Game Team Feature Work and Engine Development
Work closely with Art Direction
Collaborate with a dedicated team
Work with Limited Hardware Resources
Writing Performance Critical Code
o Cross Platform Development
o Engine Level Code Design and Architecture
o Analyzing and optimizing a Large codebase
Performance
Memory
o Create and/or Maintain Asset Pipelines
o Testing and Documenting Code
o Leading and Mentoring Engineers at all levels
• Required Skills
o B.S. (or higher) in Computer Software Engineering or Equivalent
o 6+ Years of C/C++ Experience (preferably in the games industry)
o Shipping titles on PC, X360, or PS3
o CPU/GPU Optimization
o Direct 3D 11 Experience
o Rendering Understanding
Shading
Lighting
Materials
Post Processing
Particle Effects
Secondary Motion
o Strong 3D Math
o Experience with OOP Design Principles
o Passion for making amazing looking games and striving for photo real graphics on current hardware.
• Optional Skills
o Understanding of X360 and PS3 hardware
o Understanding of modern GPU and CPU architectures
o 3D Authoring Package Usage (Maya/Houdini, Softimage, 3DSMax, Blender, etc.)
o OpenGL 4.0, Direct3D 9 or Direct3D 10 Experience
o C#/Python/MEL Scripting
o Embedded Programming
o Working in a Large Team
o Experience Working a Large Codebase
