The IT team is absolutely critical to the success of EA. To build world class games, it is vital to ensure that EA’s technology is not only stable but is on the cutting edge.
Role Overview:
The Senior Storage Engineer’s primary focus is to research, evaluate, plan, design, allocate, implement, support, and optimize all aspects of the storage infrastructure supporting EA’s Online IT organization. EA Online IT is responsible for architecting and supporting IT solutions that enable EA’s online games and game content.
The Senior Storage Engineer works as part of a team responsible for the design of the storage and backup architecture, storage infrastructure management and advanced technical support. He also provides technical leadership required to effectively deliver high-quality, timely IT solutions and services that meet EA’s business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create and implement consolidated, multi-year storage infrastructure plans.
• Provides L3 (advanced) troubleshooting SAN/NAS support with accountability for resolution of outages, service level issues, and user support needs requiring collaboration.
• Perform capacity planning analysis.
• Monitor and analyze storage metrics in order to implement optimization strategies.
• Communicate end-to-end technical requirements across IT delivery functions.
• Defines best practices, technology roadmaps, and standard procedures for storage and backup solutions.
• Evaluate new technology and techniques in order to improve the storage infrastructure.
• Drives and leads technical design services, requirements analysis, functional/ technical design leadership, and documentation/review with the business & IT.
• Drives continuous improvement - design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes and methodologies regarding our storage architecture.
• Provides functional and technical expertise with managing, implementing, and designing Storage environments.
• Create design and support documentation and diagrams.
• Ensures technical documentation is kept up to date (runbooks, application and process diagrams, system information, technical documents).
• Collaborates with application and system architects to drive guidelines, methodologies, and documentation.
• Rotational 7/24 on call support.
Required Technical Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
• 8+ years Systems Engineer experience with ‘mission critical’ systems in a large enterprise environment.
• Expert knowledge of SAN and NAS administration.
• Expert knowledge in NetApp storage technology, design, and deployment principles.
• Expert knowledge in implementing NFS, SAN, iSCSI, and CIFS storage solutions and clear understanding of each protocol’s best implementation practices.
• Expertise utilizing IBM tS3500 Tape Libraries.
• Expertise installing and managing CISCO SAN switches (MDS 9000 & Nexus 5500).
• Strong understanding of Oracle storage requirements and migration strategies.
• Working knowledge of Database Administration – Oracle and Mysql.
• Must understand and involve ILM thought processing in design solutions.
• Knowledge of Dell or Intel server hardware.
• Expert level knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux – Redhat Certified is a plus.
• Excellent TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and networking knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of HBA configurations and multipathing capabilities.
• Knowledge of Veritas Netbackup and data protection solutions.
• Familiarity with Tier 1 storage vendor technologies (NetApp, EMC, IBM, Cisco).
• Solid Shell scripting. Perl experience a plus

• Ability to analyze, propose, and implement workflow and process improvements.
