Tech Director

Tech Director 
Activision's Central Technology group has an immediate opening for a hands-on Director of Technology.  Reporting to the VP of Online Technology, this role's primary objective is to direct the development of significant game technology across multiple Activision studios and titles.  The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader with the ability to recognize what elements are critical to create a highly polished title.  Additionally, he/she will possess a clear understanding of the importance for both ambition and conservatism when developing video games.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and deployment of game technology
  • Identify technical needs for all Activision projects
  • Work directly with internal and external developers
  • Interface with various departments within Publishing (Production, QA, Marketing, etc.)
  • Interface with first parties  (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo)
  • Conduct developer evaluations
  • Evaluate technical design documents
  • Manage staff of Technical Directors and Engineers
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years industry experience, with 4-5 years in a technical leadership role
  • Must have shipped at least 5 console titles, preferably AAA.
  • Solid online knowledge (Data mining, Matchmaking, Networking)
  • Must have a strong technical and strategic vision
  • Comfortable in a fast paced environment and able to cope with adversity and ambiguity
  • Proven ability to build and lead teams
  • Effective problem solver
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively disseminate pertinent information across different functional groups within the organization
  • Able to be flexible and work independently when necessary
  • Must be able to travel (short and long term, international/domestic)
