Job Description
We are looking for a Technical Art Director to work with setting of the technical art direction, memory budgets and performance guidelines. You will also supply and implement game assets such as props, weapons, vehicles, VFX etc. As Technical Art Director you will work with problem solving and finding solutions for specific areas and/or systems. You will drive and be responsible for planning, outsourcing, estimates and to implement all world assets needed to deliver the game to an artistic quality set by the Art Director and also to a technical quality set by the Technical Content Director. You will also have a coaching and mentoring role for new artists and Technical Artists.
Key Responsibilities
• Set memory budgets
• Set performance guides
• Support Level Artist to solve technical issues
• Implement 3D assets to Game Engine (Source of assets might be: Outsourcing, reuse, internal resources or by own hand.).
• LOD creation and setup.
• Shader and animation setup.
• Destruction creation and setup.
• Tweak 3D meshes visually.
• Tweak 2D artwork visually.
• Technical tweaks on shaders, 3D mesh and 2D artwork.
• Deliver outsourcing briefs.
• Deliver feedback to outsourcing partners.
• 3D modeling.
• 2D artwork creation.
• UV-mapping.
What skills does DICE look for?
You need a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Technical Art Director/CGsup/Senior Technical Artist for this job.
• You must be able to work collaboratively with the game team which includes daily communication with programmers and designers.
• Highly detail-oriented with a passion for pixel perfection, self-motivated and highly organized.
• 3D modeling.
• UV-mapping .
• Photoshop skills
o Textures
o 2D art (UI/Menu elements)
• Performance understanding and performance optimization
• Memory footprint understanding and memory optimization
• Keeping track of performance and memory restrictions
• Production knowledge and ability to create time estimates
• Game art and engine knowledge to set memory budgets and distribute memory accordingly
