Maxis has an opening for a talented, motivated Technical Designer for a new unannounced next-generation online simulation game. We are looking for someone who can work closely with designers to implement gameplay features, using internal development tools. Not only will you be using those tools to build the game, but working with engineers to improve our tool set and streamline the scripting process. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for making games, a mind brimming with great ideas, and enough technical chops to get the job done. It’s a chance to get in with a high profile project, still early in the development cycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement major gameplay systems in a unique simulation scripting language
• Interface closely with designers, FX artists, audio and gameplay engineers
• Work with scripting lead and tools engineers to enhance toolset
• Participate in design discussion
• Demo work to the team and solicit feedback


REQUIREMENTS:
• Modding, Level Design, Indie development experience
• Familiar using in-house development tools
• Experience using scripting languages for game system development
• Able to work effectively in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment
• Able to clearly and openly communicate with technical and non-technical team members
• Passion for Maxis-style simulation games

EXTRAS:
• Javascript experience is a plus
• Artistic inclination is also a plus
• 2+ years game development experience, shipped at least 1 title
• Worked on a multiplayer online game
• UI experience (tools, layouts or scripting)
• Familiarity with SCRUM/Agile processes
