Technical Director

Mako Games is currently seeking a Technical Director to develop cutting-edge motion control games for Natal. The position is full time, on-site at our Stamford, Connecticut office.

A Technical Director is a highly capable individual with deep experience in many of the technical aspects of game development. A Technical Director mentors other programmers, lends expertise in company-wide technical direction, and seeks to improve engineering processes across the company.

Responsibilities:

• Dive deeply into the Natal motion-sensing technology to provide technical guidance for innovative game play.

• Lead the design and architecture of the software.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize mid/high-level engine systems

• Manage and mentor other programmers in the group.

• With the production team, create and manage the technical schedule

• Create necessary technical documentation for presentations and milestones

• Ready to move quickly between projects as expert assistance is needed.

• Pioneer use of new technologies.

• Seek ways to improve the tools and systems used by the content creators.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of game development

• Experience as a Technical Director or Lead Programmer

• At least 2 shipped, animation intensive game titles on next-gen consoles

• At least 8 years professional programming experience

• Strong C/C++ skills

• Ability to work well in a team environment

• Strong communication and problem solving skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience

• Passion for gaming and what makes them tick

Plusses:

• Experience programming animation systems a plus

• Experience with Natural Motion’s Morpheme engine is a major plus

• Experience with Emergent's Gamebryo engine is a major plus
