Technical Localizaton Specialist

Description:
The successful candidate will direct the compilation, analysis, extraction, integration, and debugging of in-game text and subtitles in the localized versions of video games.

Responsibilities:
The most important day-to-day functions of this position are:
- Evaluate the internationalization of the game to be localized
- Define and develop formats and tools for organizing localizable text assets
- Coordinate the extraction and integration of data to be localized
- Format and organize these assets in preparation for the translation process
- Collect and deliver contextual information to facilitate the translation process
- Confirm that localized audio is consistent with the corresponding subtitles
- Track changes to script content in conjunction with the localization project manager and the production team
- Analyze, fix, and/or re-assign localization bugs
- Provide technical support to external integration teams and other third parties
- Create a localization kit for subsequent versions

Education/Training:
University degree or equivalent in localization/translation, computer science, or other relevant experience in the integration of multilingual content.

- Mastery of English required; functional French and knowledge of a third language
- Knowledge of and keen interest in the issues arising in multilingual and multicultural contexts
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to analyze, prioritize, and resolve problems
- Solution- and customer service-oriented, and works well under pressure
- Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of database principles
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong sense of organization, decision-making ability, and ability to work on several projects simultaneously

Assets:
- Excel programming
- Knowledge of source control software (Perforce)
- Knowledge of character encodings (Unicode, UTF8, ANSI, ASCII, etc.)

- Familiarity with the videogame industry and the game production process
