The Project Manager (PM), also called Development Director (DD) at EA, is a critical role and responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of a game, on time and within budget. Prior to production they carry out a detailed analysis of the game design and work out the project ‘milestones’ (specific targets that have to be met by certain dates), agreeing upon these with the key technical and creative managers, such as the Game Designer, Art Director and Lead Programmer. The PM/DD then works out a schedule for the project and decides the personnel and equipment needed. They control the financial resources and negotiate all contracts with suppliers and contractors. Once development is underway, the PM/DD monitors the team’s progress against the schedule. They must be able to prioritize when production deadlines are a concern, manage risks, and plan for contingencies. Finally, the PM / DD is responsible for all people management on the team and entasked with motivating and developing all staff under their management and develop their career.

Role Overview

Responsibility
• Management of teams focusing on game content production and services.
• Anticipate bottlenecks, provide management escalation, project prioritization, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and drive initial partner deployments.
• Drive architectural design and define technical engagement processes.
• Identifies task-related processes to improve efficiency
• Focuses on immediate team and identifies team issues and suggests solutions related to execution goals.

EA Project Management
• Manage a team of Senior Art Leaders, Artist, Technical Artist to work with EA Partners to lock down requirements and specifications.
• Ensure each projects setup meets the specifications with Studio.
• Provide regular status reporting and capacity plan updates.
• Track and implement project improvement plans to drive team efficiency.
• Define engagement practices and processes: Ensure all workflow is clearly defined, processes are documented, and staff trained in expectations on the workflow.

Leadership
• Solves specific problems that have impact on team performance.
• Mentors individual contributors within project team
• Ensures all have professional development plans. Conducts regular one-on-ones.
• Work with Art Director to develop team skills
Requirement:
• Willing to live in Shanghai, China.
• Proficient with MS Word, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Perforce, and Visio
• Experience working with remote teams in the US
• Experience working on console development would be an advantage
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Mandarin and English
• Excellent knowledge of production life cycle, tools, processes and executions planning.
• Demonstrated experience in working with broad cross-functional teams.


What skills does EA look for??

• Minimum of Bachelor Degree, preferably in computer science or Fine Art
• 3+ years of experience with track records of hands-on game development or out sourcing production
• At least 2+ years of management experience leading a team of 10+ artists.
