Tools, Server, Social Application Programmer Required - AAA Games Developer - 3 month contract - North West UK

Responsibilities:
Enhancement of existing tools.
Support and bug fixing of existing software.
Communication with project lead programmer and producer on a daily basis, reporting progress/problems etc.
Responsible for developing game components such as leader-boards, telemetry etc for game projects.
Handle aspects of server configurations from development to deployment into production environments.
Estimate time required to perform tasks and to manage that time.
Creation of new bespoke software as required.
Essential;
Being able to work with other peoples code.
Proficiency in Java language and common related enterprise-level technologies: Spring, Hibernate, Tomcat, Ant, Log4J, Dom4J, JUnit etc… or similar (eg. JEE, EJB, JPA, Toplink, JBoss, Jetty etc.)
Experience of database development/SQL language with Oracle, MySQL or other major database brands.
Proficiency in Object Oriented Design and Programming.
Proficiency in development of multi-tier applications
Proficiency of fundamental internet tools and protocols: TCP, UDP, DNS, http, ssh, smtp etc.
Ability to Code in C++
Ability to write PC tools with good UI interfaces and command line
Understanding of perforce
Good understanding of development best practices and coding standards
Ability to autonomously learn new technologies as needed by the tasks at hand
XML processing
Required;
Passion for videogames and games development
Knowledge of service oriented protocols/technologies: SOAP, RMI, REST, XML-RPC
Experience of servlet and/or JSP development
Experience of the Eclipse JEE IDE
Ability to understand, modify and integrate shared and open codebases
Desired;
Ability to write Maya plugins
Pre baked lighting pipelines
Camera Systems, Data formats, Data Conversion
Experience of Linux-based OSes
Portfolio of at least one production distributed system
Exposure to development for embedded devices, preferably with one or more published online game for console, PC or handheld.
Experience of team work within an Agile framework (SCRUM, XP, etc.)
Experience of web client-side technologies: (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery (or equivalent), Flash, Adobe Air
Experience of Facebook/web application programming.
Experience:
Good experience of Game Pipelines from Source to final Runtime Data.
A team player with good communication skills, takes pride in producing high quality work on time and is able to interact and take inputs and directions from diverse groups (game designers, community managers, lead developers).
