Role Overview:
The West University Relations Manager is responsible for partnering to manage the ongoing development, implementation, and administration of EA's University Relations program for 3-4 of our studios, including: Playfish, Maxis and EARS. This person will champion University Relations through building relationships with HR/UR Business Partners, hiring managers and teams. The position works closely with the business and interacts with all levels of the organization both internally and externally. The University Relations Manager will partner with the University Relations Director, US lead and respective Campus Executives and Directors to set strategy to better position Electronic Arts on campus. He/she will also heighten awareness of career opportunities in interactive entertainment. His/her core objective will be to drive academic programs and secure the best talent across our key west coast universities as our Campus Development Manager for 4-5 key universities, including Stanford, Berkeley, UCSC. He/she will, also, be responsible for exploring innovative ways to partner with academia.
The University Relations Manager is a member of the Global University Relations team and will report into the Director of University Relations. The position will be based out of Redwood shores.
Key responsibilities
• Institutionalize the Global University Relations and Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, targeting academic programs that are aligned with overall needs.
• Develop Campus Plans and Designate Campus Teams for key universities, including Stanford, Berkeley and UCSC.
• Build and Cultivate Long term relationships with select key universities (key professors, administration, and student organizations)
- Foster these relationships to strengthen EA's position as an Employer of Choice.
- Partner with Universities to ensure the graduates are trained to support our business requirements and influencing the curriculum accordingly.
- Identify, build, educate and manage key faculty and student relationships with Universities in order to build a talent pipeline, promote the EA career brand, and ensure EA's long term growth.
- Partner with Campus Teams and recruiters to pre-identify identify top talent and track candidate information in our ATS/CRM system
- Develop and deploy innovative programs and diversity initiatives
- Identify opportunities for research and collaboration.
• Responsible for meeting university hiring needs for EA’s studios through identifying, recruiting and hiring interns and co-op students that fuel a pipeline for the overall studio hiring needs.
• Partner with others to develop inclusion and innovation programs to hire and develop intern and new grad talent.
• Coach managers and hiring teams on new grad, intern and co-op student experience • Partner with HRBPs and New Grad Program Lead to ensure a smooth transition of new graduates into the business • Responsible for managing University Relations Coordinator and/or Recruiting Assistant
• Assess, measure and track the quality and performance of interns and new grad talent
• Track and report market trends and competitive intelligence
• Responsible for Campus budgets
• Partner with EA Outreach to work with select High Schools to raise awareness amongst key constituencies of potential careers in games.
• Work with global compensation to analyze local market compensation model for attracting and retaining intern and entry level university hires, interns and co-ops.
• Document, Standardize and Streamline Processes and share Best Practices with Global University Relations teams
• Partner with UR Directors, Employment Brand Manager and UR Brand Lead to create dynamic outward facing University brand look and feel.
Qualifications
• Minimum Bachelors degree or equivalent
• 7+ years of University Relations experience in either a corporate or campus setting.
• Direct experience working in the high-technology software or entertainment industry is desirable
• Proven ability to lead, develop, own and drive programs/processes
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• High level of energy, initiative and enthusiasm
• Accustomed to working in a rapidly-changing environment
• High integrity
