User Interface Software Engineer - DICE
at DICE
Stockholm, Sweden
ENTERTAINING IS OUR PASSION
EA was founded over 25 years ago by individuals with a deep passion for making games. Many things have changed over the years as the gaming industry—and the company—has expanded immensely, but we are still driven by the same passion for developing, publishing, and distributing the world’s best games. Our history has been one of great success, and our future looks even brighter. Gaming has come a long way from Pac-Man & Space Invaders to modern EA Favourites like Burnout, Battlefield, Mercenaries, Dead Space, Spore, FIFA, Madden, Need for Speed and the world’s most successful game franchise, The Sims. Fuelled by our talented staff at locations right across the Globe we are united in our passion to continue shaping the future of interactive entertainment. Together we can make a difference.
We are looking for a talented and self-motivated person that is passionate about developing UI and Heads Up Displays. You will be writing code in C++ as well as working with our internal editors for UI development. You have previous experience creating high quality user interfaces. You are not afraid to challenge design ideas and you have the ability to present alternatives which may be similar in design but at a fraction of the cost of development. Furthermore you are open-minded to changes and work efficiently and goal oriented. Something DICE finds vitally important is that you actively find improvements. You must be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure. We believe you possess excellent communication skills. Developing our game UIs means working very tightly integrated with other teams as well as close cooperation with the own team where productive communication is key to a successful UI.
Technical Qualifications
• Excellent C++ skills
• Experience developing for systems with limited resources, e.g. memory and CPU
• Excellent grasp of object oriented programming
• BS or MSc in Computer Science or similar discipline
• 2+ years work experience
Also good to have
• Experience with UI design and/or usability design
• Experience with adobe Flash and Adobe Photoshop
• Experience with Actionscript 2
