Visual Effects Artist Required
My client is one of the UK's most secure independent game developers. Since their inception in 2003, they've had a string of successful titles across all gaming platforms for multiple partners.
They are currently working on a number of unannounced AAA games across all formats and are looking for a Visual Effects Artist with the drive, passion and ambition that will help them make those games the best they can be.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation and implementation of advanced 2D & 3D effects.
Essential Job Functions:
Create real-time 2D and 3D effects for multi-platform game development including particle systems, polygonal effects meshes, screen effects, texture assets, materials, etc.
Integrate visual effects and events to a game using simple scripting and proprietary tools.
Optimize visual effects within game engine as it relates to frame rate and memory budgets.
Texture and material creation for visual effects including image sequences, normal maps, specular maps
Work with Engine group to create and improve high quality effects
Meet production schedules and deadlines.
Research and/or create pre-visualization renderings of assigned tasks as needed.
Reasonably assess time required for assigned tasks
Knowledge Requirements:
Experience in video game development or in related field,such as visual effects in film.
Proficient with 3D graphics, particle systems, dynamics, shaders and relevant commercial software applications
Ability to create immersive, high quality visual effects in a game development environment
3D Modeling experience
Demonstrated Ability To:
Work well/respond to pressure
Communicate effectively within a large group/multiple project environment
Think critically, and apply analytical skills in resolving complex issues
Quickly master proprietary tools and development processes
To take direction and criticism
Meet deadlines designated for team projects
Demonstrate professionalism and the ability to function well within a team
Be self motivated
